When you walk into The Tea Spout – you’re immediately met with the fragrance of steeping teas and always greeted as a friend.
I am April Benson, owner and creator of The Tea Spout. Our history is a brief but interesting one. I had been researching the health benefits of loose leaf tea for over a year. I started to drink tea and to experience, firsthand, the physical benefits. I began feeling much healthier. At the same time, I discovered that there were virtually no retails shops to buy quality loose leaf tea in El Paso. It was at that moment that the concept for The Tea Spout was born.
I wanted to locate my shop on the west side near the UTEP campus and adjacent to El Paso’s burgeoning medical community. On September 13, 2014 after renovating our space and a lot of preparation – the Tea Spout opened its doors for the very first time. Today, our store carries a variety of over 50 teas from across the globe. Matcha – a finely ground Japanese powder from specially-grown green tea - has proven to be a customer favorite. I am a certified Tea Sommelier and dedicate myself to staying educated on the ever-changing tea industry through national workshops and conference. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with our clients. Customers can sign up for my monthly TEA 101 classes to learn the finer points of steeping and enjoying tea. Our shop also plays host to a variety of group functions and tea parties. Call or email us to find out more.
Sharing my passion for tea with the community has been a true joy. I am glad for the friendships we have made. We are dedicated to outstanding customer service and creating a welcoming environment for those who visit us. I’m grateful that El Paso has embraced us as part of the business community.
If you’ve never been to the Tea Spout, make your way to 3233 N. Mesa and enjoy international, loose leaf tea at its best. If you’re already a customer, come visit us again. Lastly, if you’re out of town, order and experience any of our teas online. We look forward to sharing our passion with you.
